About Us
I’m Jean, a writer, editor, and publisher with a lifelong passion for literature, storytelling, and amplifying diverse voices. I hold four degrees, including a Master’s with distinction in Women’s Writing, and a PhD in Cultural Studies and Humanities. I have taught literature at universities, mentored postgraduate students from around the world, and co-edited collections of essays and short stories. Over thirty years of experience as an academic editor, with a background spanning higher education, creative writing, art therapies, and publishing, has given me a wealth of understanding and appreciation in literature, narrative, and of the power of language.
Our Story
At the heart of Naked Figleaf Press is a paradox: we reveal as we conceal. Just as a fig leaf both covers and draws attention to what lies beneath, our press celebrates the layers of truth, history, and imagination that shape every story. We embrace the raw, the refined, the daring, and the deeply personal—because literature should challenge, illuminate, and endure.
As the founder of Naked Figleaf Press, I champion the voices of Isle of Wight writers, offering a space where local talent can flourish. Whether through publishing, editing, or creative mentorship, I am dedicated to promoting writers that deserve to be heard.
Welcome to Naked Figleaf Press—where we give a fig about independent, bespoke publishing.
